A draft bill was adopted by the Government Council on 9 January 2026 and introduced in Parliament and in the State Council on 29 January 2026. The draft bill extends the scope of the text to purely domestic lawsuits and provides that measures on procedural safeguards as provided for in Chapters III and IV of the Directive can be taken ex officio by court.

The Council of Europe, the Luxembourgish Press council, as well as several judicial bodies have given opinions on the draft law (see below).
